At Celtic Bengals, the health and genetic soundness of our breeding cats is our highest priority. Each of our adult Bengals receives regular veterinary care and is tested for common hereditary conditions that affect the breed. All of our breeding cats are DNA tested through Wisdom Panel's Optimal Selection Laboratory to screen for over 45 different hereditary diseases that are known to affect Bengals.  This test includes illnesses such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-b) and Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK-def). In addition, our breeding program includes routine heart evaluations by a licensed veterinarian to monitor for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), which is important for maintaining long-term cardiac health in Bengal lines.

We also test our cats for Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and maintain a strict deworming, vaccination, and parasite prevention schedule. Only cats that meet our standards for health, temperament, and structure are included in our program. Our breeding decisions are made carefully and intentionally, with the goal of producing kittens that are not only striking in appearance but also strong, affectionate, and genetically sound.
